Florida’s Best Family Attractions

Are you planning a trip to Florida and need to find out what are some of Florida’s best family attractions? Everyone knows that Florida is home to Disney World, arguably one of the most famous theme parks in the world, but there are dozens of other kid-friendly attractions throughout the state. Maybe you have kids interested in space travel or little ones that are crazy about animals, or maybe your bunch just wants to play in the water all day. Florida has something for everyone. That’s why I am highlighting some of Florida’s best family attractions that you can enjoy with your family and friends.

Walt Disney World

World-famous Walt Disney World is better than ever. Disney’s Magic Kingdom has live entertainment, beloved characters, rides and restaurants, all combining for a magical experience. Epcot showcases the cultures of 11 nations, but also has its share of rides and shows. One of the highlights of Epcot is the iconic Spaceship Earth. Also, apart of Disney World is Hollywood Studios, with film-inspiring attractions, shows are features and the 500-acre Animal Kingdom, home to 1,700 animals, shows, parades and rides. Two first-class water parks are also part of the resort.

Discovery Cove

Have you ever wanted to swim with dolphins? Then, Discovery Cove is your chance. Small groups of guests are led into the pool to “meet” their dolphin, where you’ll become acquainted with your new friend. The 30-minute encounter ends with a thrilling dorsal fin ride back to shore. There is also an aviary, an 80 degree freshwater bay, a relaxing river and a tropical reef, where you can interact with stingrays. Discovery Cove packages include 14-day unlimited admission to SeaWord, Aquatica or Busch Gardens.

Busch Gardens

This family park offers the thrill of an African safari without leaving the continent. The 65-acre Serengeti Plain is home to giraffes, zebras, ostriches and other exotic wildlife, making for a life-altering experience. Other highlights of the park are live entertainment, animal exhibits and heart-pounding rides featuring Gwazi, a wooden roller coaster that reaches speeds of 100 mph. Furthermore, Christmas Time at Busch Gardens is another good time to visit.

Kennedy Space Center

Kennedy Space Center has tours, IMAX films and interactive exhibits to spark your child’s imagination. The Space Center’s Shuttle Launch Experience allows visitors to experience the sights and sounds of a real shuttle launch. Daily tours are also available that get you as close as possible to the launch pad, but plan ahead, the tours fill up quickly. The Space Center also features astronaut encounters, where real astronauts can answer your questions. Numerous exhibits from early space history to modern times are also housed here. Most attractions are included in the price of the general admission ticket.

Miami Children’s Museum

The Miami Children’s Museum offers over 14 fully interactive galleries. Children can ride on the police motorcycle and slide down the fireman’s pole, while wearing a fireman’s outfit. In addition, the cruise ship exhibit on the second floor allows kids the experience of cruising by steering the ship like a real Captain.

The numerous exhibits allow children to learn about various occupations as well as to develop an awareness of financial matters with the onsite bank, and of health and wellness with the dental office.

Visit Zoo Miami With the Kids

Zoo Miami features more than 2,000 animals along with 100 exhibits in a span of three miles. There are daily wild animal shows along with camel rides and giraffe feeding stations.

In addition, there is a children’s zoo and chronicled tours of African and Asian animals. Zoo Miami offers scheduled educational talks throughout the day, so guest learn even more about the 450 different species the zoo contains.

Miami Seaquarium

If ever there is a city to watch an aquatic animal show, this would be it. The Miami Seaquarium is along Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami’s Key Biscayne, and is home to some special residents. Visitors here will see sharks, dolphins and plenty of other aquatic animals and sealife. You certainly want to experience one of the shows at the seaquarium. The stadium holds some 2,500 people, and you’re sure to laugh and be wowed by the stunts the dolphins can pull. There is even a special area at the seaquarium where kids can touch different aquatic animals.

Cape Florida Lighthouse

This is a neat sight along the Atlantic shore. The lighthouse has long been a place where ships were signaled into shore. The lights at the top of the lighthouse let ships traveling by night know where the shore is and how far they might be from land. You can climb to the top of the lighthouse and experience a spectacular view of Miami and the ocean. The lighthouse is at the tip of Key Biscayne and can be toured daily.

Cape Florida State Recreation Park

This is a choice spot along the coast of Key Biscayne. The sands on the beach are top notch, and it’s a great place to bring your picnic lunch and enjoy a day of fun in the sun. This also a widely known fishing spot. You’re almost sure to catch something here, so bring your rod and reel. Part of this park got destroy by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, but is now rebuilt. Today it is just as beautiful as it was before the hurricane and is a popular tourist destination. If you’re going to be in the souther Florida area, it’s a spot you certainly won’t want to miss.

Florida’s best family attractions offer enjoyment that kids love to visit. Miami Children’s Museum, Zoo Miami, and Wannado City create lively educational experiences that kids will never forget.
