In this article, I am highlight 3 reasons why you should visit Bok Tower Gardens for a summer fun day. Some of you maybe wondering where is Bok Tower Gardens. Let me get right to it.
Bok Tower Gardens is located at 1151 Tower Blvd, Lake Wales, Florida 33853. It is a National Historic landmark located in central Florida. It’s between Tampa and Orlando. General admission to the park is $16 for adults, $5 for children (ages 5-12), and children under the age of 5 are free.
This garden is open year-round(365 days) and its hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. But always check their website for any updates to changes. We arrived at 3:00 pm and left at closing. It was a well-spent 3hours to enjoy the Hammock Hollow children’s garden, the Olmsted gardens, and the 205-feet art styled looks Singing Tower. These are the top three highlights of our visit.
205-feet Singing Tower
This Tower sits 205-feet high with beautiful art decor and surrounds by a pool of water. The view is breathtaking to see how tall this tower stands and the reflection of the tower in the water. The Tower is not accessible for touring the inside. But be sure to expect it to sing every hour on the hour. And it does not matter where you are in the Gardens. You will hear the melodious sounds.
Hammock Hollow Children’s Garden
The first spot we went to once we arrived at Bok Tower Gardens. And within this children’s garden, there were different areas for kids to enjoy.
For example, a good sizeable sandbox, where they can play around and feel the sand on their toes. They will think they are at the Beach. In addition, rocks surround the splash pad area, and water spurs out of them. Kids get to splash around and have a fun time there.
Then not to mention an acorn park, backyard fun area, and the fairy garden. In the backyard area, kids get to pretend to play with an antique wooden kitchen stove, pots, and pan cooking up a storm.
We almost spent our entire visit in this area because of the amount of fun my Daughter was having.
Olmsted Garden
When we finally made it over to the Olmsted Garden. It was just as beautiful as the other parts of the gardens. It was about an 8miles walk up to the top of this garden.
It’s the most desirable stroll looking at the tall trees and beautiful flowers along the pathway. This garden is where the singing Tower was as well. You can stop to feed fishing in a nearby pond on your way to the Tower.
By the time we got to the tower. The wind was blowing so strongly. It was perfect for my daughter and I to play with her frisbee. Moreover, when we weren’t playing frisbee we sat down to enjoy the views overlooking the city. And, reminisce on our visit as it was coming to an end. It was the best way to end the day at Bok Tower Gardens.
Here are a few helpful tips to help with your planning.
This is to avoid some of the mistakes we made although overall it was still a great visit without them.
1). Make sure to wear lots of sun-screen, pack your lunch and bring a blanket for a picnic treat in the beautiful gardens. We did bring our lunch but didn’t bring a blanket.
2). Also, bring a change of clothes for the kids. Since they will be playing in the sand and running through the splash pad. Of course, I wasn’t aware of this before our trip. But with the sun out my daughter’s clothes were dried before you know it.
3). Lastly, wear comfortable shoes for walking. They are miles-long trails to walk and explore the beautiful flowers, trees, and animals in the gardens.
